MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — A new Fishing Finding tool from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is trying to make things a little easier for Wisconsin anglers. Fisheries System Biologist Alex Latzka says the tool has plenty of use info.

“Things like public lands and easements, boat launches and shore fishing stations, bag limits, length limits, season dates, what species and habitats are there, how they’ve been classified, what types of fishing they might experience, there’s summaries of what we’ve stocked in those water bodies recently,” Latzka said.

More info on the Fishing Finder can be found on the DNR’s website.

Wisconsin’s fishing opener is Saturday.

State residents and nonresidents age 16 or older are required to purchase a fishing license. If you head out, the Department of Natural Resources is asking you to help minimize the spread of invasive species, follow proper catch and release protocols, know rules and regulations, and stay safe.

An annual resident fishing license costs $20. More information can be found on the DNR’s website.
