MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Healthcare experts in Wisconsin worry new childhood vaccine recommendations from the Trump administration will confuse families ahead of the new school year.
UW – Health Immunization Program Medical Director Dr. Jim Conway says declining trust is one of public health’s biggest challenges.
“We’ve seen this sort of erosion of trust within public health in general. And a lot of it is really confusion on the public side in that there’s so many sources of information and it’s hard to vet which ones are really good quality and which ones are just people’s opinions,” Conway said.
Conway says medical providers and professional organizations remain the most reliable sources for vaccine information. President Trump signed an executive order recommending pediatricians split the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine into three separate shots for children.
