HAYWARD, Wis. (WJMC) — School officials in Hayward say a former student was arrested after he went on to school grounds with a firearm.
The Hayward School District said on Friday morning a subject went to the high school office, carrying a backpack and a gun case. The man, a former student, was asked to leave, and he was arrested when he left the building, and police found a firearm with him. There was no further incident.
Sawyer County Jail records showed the 18-year-old man was booked on a preliminary charge of possession of a firearm on school grounds. It was not said why he was at the school. Formal charges naming the man had not been filed as of Monday.
Court records showed earlier this month a restraining order banned the man from possessing firearms for four years.
