MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WRN) — A new national Marquette Poll looks at trust.
The poll found younger people less likely to trust others.
“What we find is trust in other people generally has gone down dramatically,” said Poll Director Charles Franklin
He says adults born before 1960 are most likely to say most people can be trusted, those born in the 2000s the least likely. What’s driving that may not be what you’d expect.
“There’s absolutely no relationship between the amount that you use social media and how much you trust other people, whether you’re born before 1960, born in the 80s, or born in the 2000s,”
The poll also found a deficit in trust in the federal government across all age groups from a high in the late 1950s and early 60s, but roughly 56% say they trust the government some of the time.
