MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Trying to stay healthy on a budget or on SNAP benefits can be daunting, but it is do-able if you can spare the time.
UW Extension Food Health scientist Dr. Beth Olsen says finding the time to actually cook can be hard when you’re working multiple jobs.
“Because if you’re standing in front of your refrigerator at 6:00 and haven’t thought, yet about what you’re going to eat. You might not have the ingredients, you might not have the food, you might not have something the whole family likes, and you might end up making something less healthy,” Olsen said.
Olsen says the best meal to eat is the one that you *can* eat, so resist the urge to feel guilty over keeping yourself fed. Just find the time when you can to prep ahead.
