MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — The deadline is finally here, and you’ll now need a Real ID to be federally compliant.
AAA Representative Brynna Knapp says you need one to fly domestically, enter a military base or some federal buildings.
“I have heard from our local DMV offices that it has been quite busy, so if you can go at a kind of an off peak time if you’re planning to go in and get your folks will start being asked for their real ID’s. If you have travel coming up, get into the DMV and get it taken care of,” Knapp said.
Knapp says the card meets security standards set by the federal government. It looks like a regular ID card, except it’s marked with a star in the upper corner.
