INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Anthony Edwards scored 31 points, Donte DiVincenzo added 18 and the surging Minnesota Timberwolves beat Los Angeles Clippers 94-88 on Thursday night. Jaden McDaniels and Ayo Dosunmu each scored 12 points and Rudy Gobert had 13 rebounds to help the Timberwolves improve to 5-1 since Feb. 9 and 3-1 since the All-Star break. Edwards, who was returning to the site of the All-Star game, where he was selected the MVP, was 12 of 24 from the floor and sealed the victory with a step-back 3-pointer over two defenders for a 92-88 lead with 42.9 seconds left. Minnesota improved to 2-0 on a three-game trip. Derrick Jones Jr. scored 18 points and Bennedict Mathurin added 14 for the Clippers
(Milwaukee, WI) — Recent results make it look like the Bucks have “turned the corner” on a disappointing season. The team, still playing without Giannis Antetokounmpo, has won eight out of its last 10 games. Forward Kyle Kuzma tells NBC Sports he and his teammates have found “a recipe of how we need to play.” Sixth man Bobby Portis says Milwaukee’s players have heard “so much outside noise about trades” that it affected their play. Following the trade deadline, that situation was cleared up.
Tonight the Bucks host the NY Knicks.

(Seattle, WA) — Wisconsin’s hopes for a double-bye in next month’s Big Ten Conference tournament took a hit when the Badgers lost to Oregon 85-71. UW was favored in the Big Ten contest against Oregon, which had an 11-and-17 record. The Michigan Wolverines are in first place in the standings. The Badgers’ record of 11-and-6 is good for sixth place. They trail Purdue and Michigan State, who have four losses apiece with two games left in the season. Wisconsin plays at Washington Saturday.
(Milwaukee, WI) — Marquette goes for the season split of the series against DePaul Sunday. The Blue Demons won the first meeting in Chicago last month. Former Big East Player of the Year Markus Howard will have his uniform retired during a halftime ceremony. Tip-off for the Big East Conference game is scheduled for 3:00 p-m.

DENVER (AP) — U.S. Olympian Matt Boldy had two goals and two assists, Filip Gustavsson stopped 44 shots and the Minnesota Wild beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 on Thursday night for their sixth straight victory. In Minnesota’s first game after the Olympic break, Boldy extended his points streak to seven games, and fellow U.S. teammate Quinn Hughes had his team-leading 53rd assist of the season. Gustavsson improved to 17-2-4 in his past 23 games. Joel Eriksson Ek had two power-play goals, giving him six goals in Minnesota’s past seven games and 26 points over his past 24 games. Mats Zuccarello also scored for Minnesota. Martin Necas scored twice for NHL-leading Colorado, which returned from the break Wednesday night with a victory in Utah.
(Surprise, AZ) — Tyler Black continues a solid spring training by going 3-for-4 and driving in a pair of runs Thursday afternoon. Black had a single, double, and triple in the 5-1 victory over Texas. Lefty Aaron Ashby started and got the win by pitching two scoreless innings. Milwaukee has won three in a row. The Brewers host the Chicago White Sox today (Friday).
FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Minnesota Twins third baseman Royce Lewis was scratched from the team’s exhibition game lineup as a precaution because of tightness in his right side. Lewis experienced discomfort after running the bases in pregame warmups. Lewis had his spring training shortened last year by a strained left hamstring he suffered while running out a groundball. He wasn’t cleared to make his regular-season debut until May 6. The Twins also announced they’re shutting down right-hander David Festa from throwing for about two weeks to let a shoulder impingement heal. He will likely start the regular season on the injured list.
