MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Ayo Dosunmu scored 23 points and had nine rebounds in his second straight start in place of the injured Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves took charge in the second quarter to cruise past the Utah Jazz 147-111. Rudy Gobert had 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Julius Randle also scored 21 points and had eight assists for the Timberwolves, who have won two in a row without their All-Star guard. Minnesota announced Tuesday that Edwards will miss one to two weeks with right knee inflammation before being re-evaluated. Brice Sensabaugh scored 41 points to lead the Jazz, who have lost four in a row and 12 of their last 14.

(Milwaukee, WI) — Multiple reports indicate the Bucks want to shut down their best player for the final 14 games of the regular season. He’s resisting the idea. Milwaukee is more than six games out of qualification for the NBA Play-In Tournament. ESPN reports the two-time MVP is expected to be out for at least a week with his latest injury, suffered Sunday – a hyperextension and bone bruise. Antetokounmpo has reportedly had multiple meetings with team management since then, and he is said to be adamant about wanting to return to the court.

(Portland, OR) — The Badgers are 10-and-a-half-point favorites over High Point in their NCAA tournament first-round game this afternoon (Thursday). Wisconsin is hoping to have seven-foot junior Nolan Winter back in the lineup after missing four games with an ankle injury. Led by guards John Blackwell and Nick Boyd, the Badgers have connected on a Big Ten Conference record 400 3-pointers this season. That’s a big reason they are back in the Big Dance for a 28th time in program history. High Point has a record of 30-and-4.
Coverage starts at noon on AM1240 & 96.5FM.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Grace Zumwinkle and Kelly Pannek scored 11 seconds apart during a four-goal first period and the Minnesota Frost routed the Ottawa Charge 5-0. Minnesota has won four straight games — the last three by scoring at least four goals. The Frost sit tied atop the league standing with the Boston Fleet at 39 points apiece. Taylor Heise opened the scoring 27 seconds into the game — the second fastest goal in the PWHL this season — when she angled a shot from the corner that deflected off the stick and skate of goaltender Gwyneth Philips. Heise has goals in four straight games — the longest goal streak of the PWHL season. Zumwinkle scored her ninth goal of the season and Pannek reached 11.

(New York, NY) — War is looming between the league and the NFL Referees Association. ACME Packing Company-dot-com reports that the NFL is taking steps to hire replacement officials for the 2026 season. This strategy was an abject failure the last time the league couldn’t reach a contract agreement with its officials. Plans are in place for a four-day clinic for replacements in May. At the same time, the NFL is renegotiating its broadcast deals.

PHOENIX (AP) — Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Kyle Harrison left his Cactus League start Wednesday due to a blister on his left index finger. Harrison departed after allowing four runs over 2 2/3 innings. The 24-year-old has been competing for a spot in Milwaukee’s starting rotation since coming over from Boston as part of a February trade that sent third baseman Caleb Durbin to the Red Sox. Harrison went 1-1 with a 4.04 ERA in 11 combined appearances with the Red Sox and San Francisco Giants last season.

(Milwaukee, WI) — The Brewers have released preliminary plans for a new outdoor plaza at American Family Field. TMJ-4 is reporting that the facility will be a free, open-access space available on game days. It is to be called the UW Credit Union Plaza. The Brewers say they want to extend the ballpark experience beyond the gates. There will be a beer garden, a stage, and an area for the kids.
