MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Leo Jiménez had three hits and Xavier Edwards doubled, tripled and scored three runs as the Miami Marlins beat the Minnesota Twins 9-5 on Wednesday night. Owen Caissie hit a two-run homer for the Marlins, and Liam Hicks drove in three runs to give him an MLB-leading 38 RBIs on the year. Max Meyer gave up four runs and struck out nine in 5 2/3 innings to earn the win. Simeon Woods Richardson gave up eight runs — six earned — on seven hits with four walks in three-plus innings pitched.
DENVER (AP) — Brett Kulak scored 3:52 into overtime after Nathan MacKinnon tied it late in regulation and the Colorado Avalanche advanced to the Western Conference final with a 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Wild in Game 5 on Wednesday night. Kulak capped a wild comeback for the Avalanche, who trailed 3-0 midway through the second period. Colorado moves on to the conference final for an eighth time since relocating to Denver in 1995-96. The Avalanche will face the winner of Vegas and Anaheim. The Golden Knights lead that series 3-2. With Minnesota up 3-1, Jack Drury scored with 3:33 remaining to set the stage for MacKinnon’s goal with 1:23 left. In overtime, Martin Necas took the puck, glided behind the net and back out front, where he found an open Kulak.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Rafael Navarro scored a goal, Nico Hansen had his first shutout this season, and the Colorado Rapids beat Minnesota United 1-0 to snap a three-game losing streak. The Rapids (5-7-1) went into the game winless in five straight and won for the first time since a 6-2 home victory over Houston on April 11. Hansen finished with two saves. Navarro opened the scoring in the 26th minute. Minnesota (6-4-3) had its three-game unbeaten streak snapped and lost for just the second time since it tied the club’s single-game mark for goals conceded and set the record for largest margin of defeat in a 6-0 loss at Vancouver on March 15.
(Madison, WI) — A nine-member search committee has started its work to find a replacement for Wisconsin athletic director Chris McIntosh. The university made the announcement Tuesday. McIntosh resigned April 13th to take a position with the Big Ten Conference. The former general manager of the UW football program, Marcus Sedberry, is holding the position on an interim basis. School officials hope to fill the position this summer.
(Green Bay, WI) — The Packers will play the Los Angeles Rams on Thanksgiving Day this season. The NFL made the announcement Wednesday. The official 2026 schedule will be officially released at 7:00 p-m tonight (Thursday). The November 25th game will be streamed on Netflix and will have a 7:00 p-m kickoff.
(Milwaukee, WI) — He was an important part of the Milwaukee Bucks 2021 NBA championship team. Forty-one-year-old P-J Tucker has announced his retirement from professional basketball on Instagram. He didn’t play for the Bucks very long, but Tucker was a critical element as the team won its first title in 50 years. He was a strong defender, played a major role in the all-important floor spacing, and was a steady, veteran presence.
