SEATTLE (AP) — Brandon Woodruff tossed six innings of two-hit ball and the Milwaukee Brewers won their 11th straight, 6-0 over the Seattle Mariners. Woodruff needed just 62 pitches to make it through his third start of the season, giving up two singles and walking none. The right-hander missed all of the 2024 season because of right shoulder surgery, and has been brought along slowly by the Brewers since his debut on July 6. George Kirby dueled with Woodruff early, carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning. But the Brewers tagged Kirby for four runs in the sixth while sending eight men to the plate.
The series continues tonight. Pregame at 8:05pm. First pitch at 8:40pm on AM1240 & 96.5FM.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Shohei Ohtani hit a two-run homer in the first inning after giving up a leadoff homer to Byron Buxton. This helped the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Minnesota Twins 5-2 on Monday night. The Dodgers snapped a six-game home losing streak, their longest since 2017. Ohtani’s homer is his third in as many games. Will Smith added two home runs, and Andy Pages hit a solo shot in the seventh. Dustin May pitched 4 2/3 innings in relief, allowing five hits. Carlos Correa went hitless and was booed by Dodgers fans over the 2017 Astros cheating scandal in the World Series.

The Green Bay Packers have agreed to terms with starting right tackle Zach Tom on a four-year extension worth $88 million, a person familiar with the contract tells The Associated Press. The deal is worth up to $92 million and includes a $30.2 million signing bonus, the person said. Tom started all 17 regular-season games for Green Bay each of the past two years after playing every offensive line position but center as a rookie in 2022. A fourth-round pick out of Wake Forest then, Tom is now under contract through 2029.

WASHINGTON (AP) — White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump is serious about wanting the NFL’s Washington Commanders to go back to the name Redskins. Leavitt said Monday that Trump’s threats to hold up a stadium deal for the team were not a joke. Trump posted on social media on Sunday that he wanted to see the Commanders and Major League Baseball’s Cleveland Guardians return to Native American names that each team abandoned years ago. Leavitt called Trump a “nontraditional president” whose opinion she said is supported by many sports fans.
