(St. Louis, MO) — Brice Turang’s two-run homer in the ninth inning of Monday’s 6-3 Brewers loss made the final score look closer than the game actually was. Starter and loser Chad Patrick was knocked out in the fourth inning after giving up four runs. Outfielder Jackson Chourio returned to action with a 4-for-4 performance. Milwaukee will try to snap a brief two-game losing streak behind rookie starter Brandon Sproat against the Cardinals tonight (Tuesday).

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Anthony Edwards scored 18 points in his unexpected return from injury and the Minnesota Timberwolves overcame a huge game by Victor Wembanyama and held on to beat the San Antonio Spurs 104-102 in the opener of the Western Conference semifinals. Wembanyama had 11 points and 15 rebounds and set an NBA postseason record with 12 blocks. He’s the third player to get a triple-double in the playoffs including blocks since the league began tracking blocks in 1973-74. Edwards was expected to miss at least the first two games of the series after suffering a bone bruise and hyperextending his left knee on April 25 during Game 4 of Minnesota’s opening-round series against Denver.

(Green Bay, WI) — The Packers have signed 36-year-old veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor to serve as Jordan Love’s backup. NFL Network announced the move Monday. Taylor is coming off four seasons with the New York Jets, where he started four games. He’s been with nine teams and was the starter in Buffalo until Josh Allen was taken in the 2018 NFL Draft. Desmond Ridder was released to make room.

(Madison, WI) — Badgers head coach Luke Fickell says the team’s quarterback room is much stronger than it has been in the last couple of years. Fickell says there is more talent, and it goes deeper. In an interview on the Big Ten Network, Wisconsin’s head man says even the younger quarterbacks can handle the pressure and run the offense. The spring training camp offers hope for a departure from the struggling offensive production of the last few years.

(Milwaukee, WI) — The Bucks will have a team in the California Classic Summer League this year. The NBA made it official last week. The Milwaukee entry will take on the Golden State Warriors July 5th. The Classic is expanding this summer, and this is the first time the Bucks have taken part.
