BARRON, Wis. (WJMC) — The alleged shooter, who shot an expecting mother and killed the woman’s brother, has died.
Barron County Sheriff Jodi Kummet and Barron Police Chief Joe Vierkandt said the deceased suspect was 17-year-old Marcus Hinojosa, of Amery. Authorities released more details on Monday.
According to family, Hinojosa was in a relationship with the female victim, police said. Family of the victims named them as 17-year-old Makayla Sadowski and her brother, 20-year-old Tyler Sadowski.
Police said the shooter was inside the apartment and shot the woman when she returned home, around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Her brother, and a neighbor, went to check on the woman, and Tyler was shot thorough the door. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
As police arrived, they heard another single gunshot and found the shooter with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police said the child was delivered at the hospital, due to the mother’s injuries. Makayla was in stable condition, and the child was doing well, family told police.
A GoFundMe page and a donation account at Sterling Bank have been set up for the Sadowski family.
