SUPERIOR, Wis. (NWN) — No charges will be filled related to the officer involved shooting death in Superior in April.
Douglas County District Attorney Mark Fruehauf said the Superior Police Officer, Ibrahim Carson, acted in self defense during a struggle with a suspect.
According to investigation records, Carson was at an apartment complex on April 7, investigating an attempted theft, and located a suspect, 42-year-old David Menton. While attempting to arrest Menton, there was a scuffle and the two fell to the ground, with Carson atop Menton, who pulled a pistol. Carson fired one shot at Menton, who died at the scene.
Authorities said Carson acted reasonably in self defense and complied with police department policy.
