RICE LAKE, Wis. (WJMC) — Organizers of the No Kings 2 protest in Rice Lake on Saturday estimated 700 people attended the event.
It was held in conjunction with similar protests nationwide. Volunteer organizer Mark Sherman said people were there to show they were upset about the current administration. Many held signs protesting what they saw as powerful overreach by President Donald Trump, the federal cuts to social programs and a broadening of indiscriminate immigration enforcement.
Rice Lake Police Chief Steve Roux said the event was safe and peaceful and organizers worked with police to keep people off of private property and not block traffic or the sidewalk. Roux said passing motorists, whether you were in support or opposition, should not honk car horns unless it is an emergency.
