Its a good idea to check the heating systems in your cabin after opening them up for the gun deer season opener.

WE Energies Communication Director Matt Cullen says be wary of the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.

“Sudden flu, like illness. If you become dizzy, if you’re starting to have headaches, or you’re starting to feel like you’re tired and need to go to sleep, if you notice someone whose lips are becoming cherry red, or if they’re unusually pale, if you begin to have nausea or vomiting, or if your heartbeat starts to feel like it’s fluttering,” Cullen said.

Cullen says you should also never be using portable gas powered generators indoors, and to check that any vents, flues or chimneys are clear of debris or animal nests.
