MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — The spring turkey hunting season is underway, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reminding hunters to keep safety in mind.
Hunter Education Administrator Renee Thok says remember the four basic rules of firearm safety.
“We call it TAB K. So each letter stands for a different firearm safety measure. T, treat every firearm as if it is loaded. A, always point the muzzle in a safe direction. B, be sure of your target. And K, keep your finger outside the trigger guard until you’re ready to shoot,” Thok said.
More safety tips can be found on the DNR’s website. The spring turkey hunting season in Wisconsin runs until May 26th.
