MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — A candidate for governor responds to being sued over unpaid debt.
The suit over some $30,000 accrued by Madison Democrat, state Representative Francesca Hong was filed in late May by Capital One and first reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, citing public court documents.
In a statement, Hong’s campaign said the debt stemmed from “business expenses that rose astronomically during the pandemic,” and has been paid. Hong co-owned a Madison restaurant for seven years before it closed two years ago.
She’s one of eight Democrats running to oppose Republican Congressman Tom Tiffany in the November election to succeed Governor Tony Evers.
