RICE LAKE, Wis. (NWN) — Another incredible livestock sale at the Barron County Fair.
The Barron County Fair hosted their 61st Junior Livestock Sale, once again bringing in generous bids and supporters.
The sale featured 100 lots of beef, market lambs, and hogs, along with the quality milk lactation winners.
Total sales were $312,891, down slightly from last year’s record high of $348,730.
Total beef sales $187,388. High sale for beef was $9,101, high price $6.60 per pound.
Total hog sales were $86,243. High hog was $4879, and high price per pound, which stayed steady from last year, $17.00.
Total lamb sales $28,910. The high lamb sale, $2540, and high price $20 per pound.
And boxes of cheese were sold, breaking records, for five dairy exhibitors in the Quality Milk category. Total sales $10,350, up from last year’s total of $5450, with the high sale of $4300.
The Junior Livestock Awards Program will be held Thursday, 7:00 PM, at the Barron Area Community Center, to celebrate champions, carcass awards, and herdmanship awards.
