CAMERON and CHETEK, Wis. (WJMC) — Today marks the second anniversary of the tragic line-of-duty deaths of Chetek police officer Emily Breidenbach and Cameron police officer Hunter Scheel.
The two were ambushed by a suspect during a traffic stop in Cameron on April 8, 2023. The suspect died from return fire from the officers.
The police departments in Cameron and Chetek encouraged community members to think of and pray for the families, friends and fellow officers of Scheel and Breidenbach.
No formal events are planned, but the departments encouraged people to visit the memorials placed outside the Cameron Police Department and Chetek Police Department.
