ELK MOUND, Wis. (WJMC) — A Menomonie man faces his fifth OWI charge after a traffic stop near a school zone in Elk Mound.

Dunn County Sheriff Kevin Bygd said a sheriff’s deputy pulled over 55-year-old Brian M. Brunner on Tuesday morning, just after 8:20 a.m. A breathalyzer allegedly showed Brunner’s blood-alcohol content was 0.234, nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08 and more than 10 times the 0.02 limit he was restricted to due to past offenses.

He was arrested on preliminary charges of OWI-fifth offense, driving without an ignition interlock device and driving with a revoked license.

The sheriff said Brunner was driving near school bus routes and the Elk Mound schools, highlighting the risks to the community caused by impaired driving.
