CAMERON, Wis. (WJMC) — Reflect on the ride of Paul Revere with two lights tonight.
America is approaching the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, and you can help start the celebration with Two Lights For Tomorrow.
“Even though the official Semiquincentennial isn’t until 2026, we’re starting it in 2025, because events that lead up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence started in April 1775,” explains Sarah Pica, with the Pioneer Village Museum. “We had what now we call Paul Revere’s ride. And they’re encouraging people to light two lanterns, or two candles, any type of light, to commemorate that event on April 18th.”
“But then on the next day, which is a Saturday, they’re encouraging people to do some sort of community service. They want you to think about the sacrifice and the service that people have done for the country in the past,” Pica added.
The initiative encourages participants to share on social media, with the hashtag #TwoLightsForTomorrow.
