BARRON, Wis. (WJMC) — Gov. Tony Evers was in Barron on Wednesday, where the city recently completed a Main Street renovation project, funded mostly by federal ARPA dollars.
Evers said his administration remained committed to helping municipalities fund infrastructure improvements, but said the federal government needed to step up as well.
“That because we have a new President and we have all sorts of stuff happening in Washington, D.C., that that’s just going to go away and that somebody else is going to pick it up, that’s just foolishness, frankly. The federal government has to play a role,” Evers said.
Evers also promoted clean drinking water initiatives, including calling for $300 million for removing lead water pipes across the state.
