WASHINGTON, Wis. (WRN) — Wisconsin’s Democratic U.S. Senator introduces the No War Against Iran Act.
Senator Tammy Baldwin wants to prohibit using federal funds for any use of force in or against Iran without specific Congressional authorization. President Trump is pushing back on intelligence reports that the strike on nuclear facilities only set Iran’s nuclear weapons program back by a few months.
Baldwin said Trump’s action was unconstitutional because he lacked Congressional authorization. The No War Against Iran Act bill contains an exception for self-defense as enshrined in the War Powers Act and applicable U.S. law.
The bill is led by Vermont Independent Bernie Sanders and lacks any Republican co-sponsors.
