RICE LAKE, Wis. (WJMC) — A break-in and vandalism at the Barron County Fairgrounds.
Fair manager Kevin Roske said an unknown person or persons broke into the 4H Youth Building on Friday night and set off around two dozen fire extinguishers. The extinguishers had been collected from the fairgrounds to be serviced or replaced by a fire extinguisher company.
Now the building was covered with extinguishing agent, and could cost upwards of $30,000 to clean, Roske said.
Anyone with information on the incident should contact the Rice Lake Police Department. A $1,000 reward has been offered by the fair for tips leading to an arrest.
Roske said security measures will be increased at the fairgrounds and most of the entrance gates are now locked.
