MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — If you’re heading out to return a gift today, be sure you know what you’re in for. Wisconsin Consumer Protection administrator Michelle Reinen says you may have to go to the manufacturer and not the retailer in some cases.
“You could end up having an item not be returnable, especially electronics, if the packaging has been opened, and the shrink wrap is removed from those items,” Reinen said.
Be sure you’ve got the gift receipt for the item you’re looking to return, and if you’re out there on the 26th, remember to be kind to those workers at the store.
If you do run into trouble at the store, and have a dispute, be sure to contact Consumer Protection at (800) 422-7128.
