HAYWARD, Wis. (WJMC) — It’s Wisconsin’s Fishing Opening weekend.

DNR Conservation Warden Tim Ebert has reminders for anglers and boaters.

“The big thing to keep an eye on is make sure you have life jackets available in the boat. Everybody should have a wearable available to them and make sure it’s accessible. We encourage all boaters and anglers to wear life jackets at all times whenever possible,” Ebert said. “Every year we have a variety of rule changes that go into effect every year, so anglers would be encouraged to check postings at the boat landings for any updates and also to reference the fishing regulations pamphlet that can be found online or at your local sporting good store. Wardens will be out working this weekend.

Current regulations can be found online at dnr.Wisconsin.gov.

Fishing licenses can be purchased online at gowild.wi.gov.
