MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — As states like Texas and California attempt to redraw legislative maps to favor either the Republican or Democratic party, Common Cause Wisconsin Executive Director Jay Heck says congressional maps have been an issue in Wisconsin for more than a decade.
“For 13 years, almost no legislative seats changed hands in elections other than through retirement or death, and this was during a time when power between the governors of both political parties shifted back and forth very close presidential elections,” Heck said.
Heck says they hope legislation will be introduced later this year that would establish an independent redistricting commission.
