MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Seven Democratic candidates for governor discuss their health plans and vision for Wisconsin.
“We can run the numbers to see if it makes more sense to be on the state plan or BadgerCare. It doesn’t matter. I want to see health care expanded to everybody. And the quickest, most efficient route for us to get there is the one that I will support. Now, with that being said, we do have to look at the prior authorization issues,” said former Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes.
“coming in and making sure we have a public option on the exchange, we’re putting downward pressure on prices across the state, making sure that we are working with the hospital system to make sure we can get people the care that they need and that we are not going to have a risk of hospital closures, particularly in our rural communities,” said Current Lt. Governor Sarah Rodriquez.
We heard from former Department of Administration Secretary Joel Brennan and former Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation CEO Missy Hughes yesterday. We’ll hear from Madison State Senator Kelda Roys, Madison State Representative Francesca Hong, and Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley later this week.
The candidates spoke at an event hosted by Wisconsin Health News last week. The primary election is August 11th.
