MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is urging vaccinations with the holiday season here.

Respiratory Disease Epidemiologist Tom Haupt says this time of year is the perfect recipe for spreading disease.

“Traveling while you’re partially sick and then potentially exposing other family members, friends, whatever the case may be, as far as the travel it is in and of itself. Also this time of year with the cooler weather, people are much more inside the cool weather does allow for the viruses to spread more easily,” Haupt said.

DHS data shows just 23% of Wisconsinites have received a flu shot this season, and only 9% got an updated COVID-19 vaccine.
