NEW AUBURN, Wis. (WRN) — Today, flags are at half-staff across Wisconsin in honor of a firefighter and emergency medical responder with ties to New Auburn.

56-year-old Lori Boelkes, of Warrens, passed away in the line of duty on February 27. A donation page for Boelkes and her family said she suffered a stroke on February 14.

Gov. Tony Evers ordered flags flown at half-staff today, noting her 10 years of service with the New Auburn Area Fire Department and more than a year with the Warrens Area Fire Department.
