MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Fundraising numbers fuel speculation that Governor Tony Evers might not run for a third term next year.
Recently released campaign finance records show Wisconsin’s Democrat governor raised just over $750,000 in the first half of this year. That’s compared to the $5 million Evers had in his campaign coffers a month after he announced his candidacy for a second term in 2021.
Evers has repeatedly said he’d announce his plans on whether or not he’d run in 2026 after the latest state budget was in place.
Two Republican candidates have already announced they’re running in next year’s gubernatorial contest.
