RICE LAKE, Wis. (NWN) — A new bicycle club is riding around Barron County.
For the second summer season, Northwoods Cycle in Rice Lake is hosting a weekly group bike ride around Barron County on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. The rides are open to riders of all experience levels, from casual and kids, to top-level cyclists.
Allison Hall, co-owner at the bike shop, says its a great way to get out and ride with 40 of your “new-best-friends.”
“These rides are open to any cyclist of any ability. E-bikes are totally okay. We ride on the roads,” Hall explained.
“We ride 10 to 15 miles and we have an awesome time. It’s great for everybody and everyone is welcome.
“So typically we ride about 12 to 14 miles an hour but it’s called a no drop ride and that just means nobody’s ever going to get left behind,” Hall said. “So even if you’re a little bit of a slower rider that’s totally fine or if you are an experienced rider and you want to ride fast and then meet us at the end that’s totally okay too.”
Each week, the group ride route starts at a different location. It’s free, but is weather dependent. Riders should bring a bike they are comfortable riding and a helmet.
