RICE LAKE, Wis. (WJMC) — A local, grassroots organization is promoting charity in numbers.

Established in Michigan in 2006, 100 Women Who Care is an informal organization dedicated to supporting local charitable causes. Groups meet four times a year to choose a charity at each meeting, which members then donate $100 directly to.

Lisa Janty with 100 Women Who Care says the Barron County chapter was started in 2019 and being part of the group provides insight into what the community needs most.

“It’s a super-efficient way, and quick, to raise money for local charities, so that we could help empower them to do the good work that they’re doing. And really, for me, the biggest thing has been to learn more about all the different, cool things that are going on in our area,” Janty said.

The group will next meet on Wednesday, April 23.
