MADISON, Wis. (WRN/WJMC) — High temperatures and humidity are in the forecast for the rest of the week across Wisconsin. UW Health Dr. Jeff Pothof says there are serious signs of overheating to keep in mind.
“Folks will just seem a little bit out of it, almost as if they’re intoxicated, but they haven’t had a bunch to drink. Then maybe say something that doesn’t sound quite right. They look like they’re a little bit, you know, disassociated, not necessarily present with you. They’re starting to get into that heat stroke type thing where you know it’s affecting their mental state,” Pothof said.
If you experience any symptoms get some fluids in you and find a cool area.
The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert for today. Wildfire smoke from Canada is moving south east across the state, reaching Eau Claire by late tonight. The poor air quality affects sensitive groups, and outdoor activities should be limited.
