MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reminds you to keep young wildlife wild this time of year.

Captive Wildlife Health Specialist Jenna Fastner says don’t assume young wildlife is orphaned just because you don’t see a parent around.

“A lot of animals are left alone for long periods of time, and this time of year as they get older, they’re out exploring and things like that, seeing one minding its own business does not mean it’s orphaned and it should not be taken home. They should not be touching the animal or intervening in any way,” Fastner said.

Fastner it’s best to observe young wildlife from a distance.
