MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — While it might be tempting to get close and take photos, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reminding you to keep your distance from animals this time of year.

“If your scent is in the area, that could lead predators to that area. if you do want to have a photo op, absolutely keeping a respectful distance and not interacting with whatever species it is, I encourage you to leave the area because their parent species is not going to come back if you are there,” said captive Wildlife Health Specialist Jenna Fastner.

More tips on keeping wild animals wild can be found on the DNR’s website.
