MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — A La Nina climate pattern could mean a return to what feels like a normal Wisconsin winter this year.
“We’ve had such a string of relatively mild winters that even if one kind of goes back to something that looks more like the normal climatology, it’s going to seem severe. So we almost can’t lose in terms of, if you like, the winter this winter is going to be better than the ones that you’ve had recently, because even if it goes back to just normal normal we haven’t visited for a number of years,” said UW – Madison Professor Jonathan Martin.
Martin says the La Nina pattern is also a lot more unpredictable than its counterpart, El Nino.
