RICE LAKE, Wis. (WJMC) — Marshfield Clinic Health System has added a cancer study office to its Rice Lake location and it is seeking more participants.

Earlier this year, Marshfield with the National Cancer Institute, sought volunteers for the Connect for Cancer Prevention Study. This long-term study has patients, with no history of cancer, answer online surveys and donate samples every two or three years. The research will help guide public health and cancer prevention efforts.

More than 100 people signed up for the study in Rice Lake, with Marshfield more than halfway to its goal of 11,000 participants. Nationwide, the study aims to include 200,000. Along with Rice Lake, patients can enroll and participate at locations in Marshfield, Lake Hallie, Weston, Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point and Minocqua.
