MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WRN) — Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan is seeking a new trial.
Dugan’s attorneys entered the court filing Tuesday. The request comes after a jury convicted her last week of felony obstruction for impeding the arrest by federal agents of an undocumented immigrant inside the Milwaukee County Courthouse in April.
Those jurors also acquitted Dugan on a separate misdemeanor count of concealing a person from arrest. The filings also look to extend the deadlines for post-verdict motions.
Her defense team is also expected to ask the judge in the case to set aside the jury’s guilty verdict. The conviction carries potential fines and up to five years in prison.
