MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Congressman Mark Pocan says the recently passed Trump budget bill will have devastating impacts on rural Wisconsin communities.

“They’re saying about 276,000 plus Wisconsinites will lose healthcare coverage. We’ll see increased premiums, there’s three rural Wisconsin hospitals specifically at risk on a list. Nursing homes as well are going to close out of them, the Medicaid cuts that we’re seeing,” Pocan said.

The 2nd District Democrat made his comments at his Madison office. Republicans say the reconciliation bill makes tax cuts permanent and cuts wasteful spending. Democrats point out it slashes Medicaid funding and food assistance.
