MENOMONIE, Wis. (WRN) — The City of Menomonie has put plans for a proposed data center on hold.
Local media reports Menomonie Mayor Randy Knaak told the city council on Tuesday he was drafting a memo to the company, Balloonist LLC, to say the city was not interested in developing the project.
Local residents who opposed the 300 acre project said they are concerned over increased water usage, pollution and higher electric bills in the area.
City officials said the 1.6 billion dollar project would create up to 1,000 construction jobs, more than 50 full time jobs.
