MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Republican state lawmakers are once again introducing community solar energy legislation to allow for smaller, community-owned solar farms.

“The coalition on this bill has been growing magnificently because of the frustrations we hear in our communities, though, so it should be, I think, bipartisan this session actually,” said Representative Scott Krug.

Previous versions of the legislation were opposed by utilities and labor unions and failed to advance. While utilities can currently develop community solar projects, that’s been a low priority for them.
