BOYCEVILLE, Wis. (WJMC) — A standoff in rural Boyceville after a domestic incident last weekend ended with a man in custody.

Sheriff Kevin Bygd said the incident started Sunday evening when a woman reported a physical domestic incident at a residence on 1130 Avenue, near Boyceville. When deputies got to the residence, 59-year-old Dennis Mittelstadt barricaded himself in a camper on the property and allegedly threatened deputies while waving a crowbar.

Deputies used less-lethal beanbag rounds and “PepperBall” rounds fired through the windows and door before Mittelstadt exited and was taken into custody without incident. The suspect and officers were not injured. The status of the victim was not mentioned.

Mittelstadt was charged Monday in Dunn County Circuit Court with false imprisonment-domestic abuse, threatening officers, bail jumping, resisting arrest and domestic disorderly conduct. He was held on a $5,000 cash bond with conditions to have no contact with the victim and two deputies.
