Milwaukee pitchers might be a little shell-shocked after giving up 15 home runs in three games at the Triple-A ballpark in Las Vegas. The Athletics took two out of three games there. The Brewers will start Jacob Misiorowski, one of the hottest pitchers in Major League Baseball. They have a record of 41-and-25 and a four-game lead on the Cardinals in the National League Central Division.

DETROIT (AP) — Spencer Torkelson hit one of Detroit’s six homers and the Tigers rolled to an 11-0 win over the Minnesota Twins. Colt Keith, Gleyber Torres, Riley Greene, Zach McKinstry and Wenceel Pérez also went deep for Detroit. Leading 2-0, Torkelson hit a two-run shot in the fourth inning for his 10th of the season. Torres made it 5-0 in the fifth before Keith hit a two-run shot for his first of the year in the sixth.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Andrei Svechnikov scored twice and Sebastian Aho added a second-period goal in a breakout game for Carolina’s top-line performers, helping the Hurricanes beat the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 on Thursday night to move within a victory of winning the Stanley Cup. Captain Jordan Staal added his fifth goal in the series. It all came together in Game 5, with Svechnikov’s short putaway at the post on the power play giving Carolina a 4-1 lead midway through the third period. Brandon Bussi finished with 22 saves in his second career postseason start. That gave the Hurricanes a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 6 is Sunday night in Las Vegas.
(Milwaukee, WI) — The Bucks have been working for weeks to come up with a franchise-altering trade for superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. Multiple sources said the front office wanted to get that deal done before the start of the 2026 NBA Draft June 23rd. Now, though, there are reports that any mega trade like that will wait until after the NBA title is determined. That would seem to indicate Milwaukee thinks the New York Knicks might still be interested. If the series goes seven games – and right now it doesn’t look like it will – the final game would be played June 19th, giving the Bucks and any trade partner just four days to finalize a deal.
(Green Bay, WI) — Following the Packers’ minicamp, the next date on the team’s calendar is the start of training camp. That is coming up July 29th. Veterans will report the day before, July 28th, according to ESPN. Rookies, quarterbacks, and injured players will be expected to show up the week before that. Open practices during the 81st training camp for Green Bay will be held at Ray Nitschke Field and the Don Hutson Center. The annual shareholders’ meeting will be held inside Lambeau Field July 27th. Family Night is scheduled for Friday, August 7th.
EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — Taking turns with J.J. McCarthy has added an extra challenge for Kyler Murray as a newcomer to the Minnesota Vikings learning a complex offense. The Vikings are committed to staging a legitimate competition for their starting quarterback position at least during this less-urgent part of the offseason. The time in drills with the first team has thus been divided between Murray and McCarthy. That’s the way the Vikings will start training camp next month, too. The coaching staff has a plan for putting both quarterbacks in as many meaningful situations as they can in practice once the pads come on.
(Madison, WI) — The Wisconsin men’s hockey program has added a new assistant. Head coach Mike Hastings made the announcement Wednesday. Nick Peruzzi comes to Madison from UConn, where he served as associate head coach last season. Peruzzi is given credit for helping lead the Huskies to that program’s most successful two-year stretch in history.
