SEATTLE (AP) — Minnesota Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell says his team can’t play offensive football like it did Sunday and expect to win. The Vikings were having enough problems with J.J. McCarthy at quarterback, and McCarthy missed the game against the Seattle Seahawks because of a concussion. Minnesota turned to Max Brosmer for his first NFL start, and against the Seahawks’ fearsome defense, the undrafted rookie was in a tough spot. Brosmer threw four interceptions in the 26-0 loss. It was the fourth straight defeat for Minnesota, which was shut out for the first time in 18 years.
(Green Bay, WI) — With an injury knocking Devonte Wyatt out for the rest of the season, the Packers’ depth on defense will be tested. Nazir Stackhouse is next on the team’s depth chart, but it is possible that another rookie, Warren Brinson, will get more snaps. Wyatt and edge rusher Micah Parsons had worked together to stop opponents’ running games. Green Bay ranks eighth in the NFL for rushing yards allowed. Veteran Karl Books will also take some snaps.
(Minneapolis, MN) — The Badgers’ defense was stout Saturday, but the offense struggled in a 17-7 loss at Minnesota. The Golden Gophers claimed Paul Bunyan’s Axe for the fifth time in the last eight years. Wisconsin’s only score came with 21 seconds left in a snowy first half when freshman Carter Smith connected with Jackson Acker (A’ kur) from a yard out. The Badgers will open the 2026 season in Lambeau Field against Notre Dame, but the rest of the schedule will be much easier than this season’s.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Anthony Edwards scored 32 points to became Minnesota’s all-time leader in games with 30 or more points, Julius Randle added 22 points, 12 assists and six rebounds, and the Timberwolves pulled away from the San Antonio Spurs in the fourth quarter of a 125-112 victory. Donte DiVincenzo scored 18 points and Naz Reid added 15 for Minnesota, which went 2-0 at home on the weekend after losing three straight on the road. De’Aaron Fox led the Spurs with 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting. Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson added 22 points apiece for the Spurs, who went 2-2 on their four-game road trip.
(Washington, DC) — After snapping a losing streak that had reached seven straight, the Bucks will go for back-to-back wins tonight (Monday). The game is in Washington against the Wizards. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 29 points in Saturday’s 116-99 win over the Brooklyn Nets. That gives him 21 thousand career NBA points. A loss to the Knicks last Friday eliminated Milwaukee from competition for the NBA Cup.
Pregame at 5:30pm. Tipoff at 6pm on AM1240 & 96.5FM.
(Nashville, TN) — Wisconsin set several records while winning the top spot in the SMASHVILLE Women’s Collegiate Hockey Showcase in Nashville Sunday. The Badgers rolled Stonehill 17-2. Sixteen goals was the previous record set last year. The 87 shots on goal also set an all-time program record. Seniors Kirsten Simms and McKayla Zilish produced hat tricks. Zilish got all three goals in the second period. Wisconsin wraps up the first half of the season next Friday and Saturday on the road at Ohio State.
