(Milwaukee, WI) — The Cubs scored three times in the 10th inning Sunday, claiming the series finale against Milwaukee 4-3. The Brewers answered with a pair of runs to make it close, but a double play grounder ended things. A four-game home series against the Cincinnati Reds opens tonight (Monday) with Robert Gasser the scheduled starter.

Reeve, who already owns the WNBA’s record for playoff wins, tied Mike Thibault for the most regular-season wins in league history at 379. She can break the record when Minnesota takes on the Liberty in New York on Friday. Minnesota (15-4) improved to 9-1 on the road and 3-0 against Dallas this season. Paige Bueckers led the Wings (11-8) with 25 points.
(Madison, WI) — The Wisconsin men’s basketball recruiting class of 2027 is currently ranked second in the nation by 247Sports. Coach Greg Gard and his staff got a big boost when four-star forward Baboucarr Ann committed last week. Already on board were four-star guard Jalen Brown and three-star center Jack Thelen. Sports Illustrated reports that the Badgers’ list of future players trails only Iowa State. However, it is still early in the cycle.
(Milwaukee, WI) — Additions to the Bucks Summer League roster show that the team is still building depth at forward. Luke Travers and Kobe Stewart are coming on board. Following the trade of Giannis Antetokounmpo and in anticipation of additional moves, Milwaukee currently has plenty of bodies in its backcourt. Behind the Buck Pass-dot-com reports that Kyle Kuzma is still on the team, Nate Ament comes through the draft, and Jaime Jaquez Junior was part of the big trade. Both Travers and Stewart performed well in the G League last season.

Rice Lake Wi, June 27 – Mike Anderson had won at least one feature race for the last twenty one years in a row at the Rice Lake Speedway. However, that long string of success ended in 2025 and stopped one of the longest running streaks in track history. 2026 has not started so well either although runs in recent weeks have shown signs of improvement.
Saturday night, though, the “old” Mike Anderson was back in full force as he made a stirring drive from the third row to top the toughest field of Modified drivers to date at the track and win the Modified feature to highlight L & L Excavating night at the speedway.
A full program of racing was also held in the other classes with the USRA Late Models joining the card for the third time in 2026 and other track winners on Saturday included Josh Wahlstrom in the Late Models, Jesse Redetzke in the Super Stocks, Blake Adams in the Midwest Modifieds, Cole Richards in the Street Stocks and Simon Wahlstrom in the Pure Stocks.
The Modified feature was a nonstop twenty lap main event with three different leaders at one point or another. Matt Leer edged ahead of Jason Miller to lead the first lap but Kennedy Swan was flying, and she moved past Leer just a lap later to claim the front position. Anderson was moving from the third row as he found a sweet spot on the inside lane of the track where his car worked good and he quickly started to advance toward the front.
Meanwhile, Swan was freewheeling on the cushion as she continued to hold down the lead through the halfway point of the race. By then, Anderson had moved up to second with Leer, Jake Hartung and Jason Gross next in line.
Just past that halfway point, Anderson really started to pick up the pace and he quickly reeled in Swan and on lap twelve, drove under her down the front chute to take over the lead. Swan tried to fight back but Anderson’s car was “wired” and he pulled away from her.
The Anderson domination was complete as he continued to pull away from the field in the remaining laps and drove home unchallenged for the win. A late mover was Hartung, who drove past Leer for third and very nearly nipped Swan for second, coming up just short at the line. Blake Adams would complete the top five.
For the Jim Falls driver, it was the fifty ninth time he has visited victory lane at Rice Lake as a Modified feature winner, second on the all time list to Kevin Adams.
From one end of the spectrum to the other as while Anderson has been a frequent winner at the track, Josh Wahlstrom reported that his Late Model victory Saturday night was the first of his career at his hometown track. Wahlstrom topped a very competitive USRA Late Model feature that saw three different drivers hold the front spot before the twenty lap run was done.
Last week’s feature winner Steve O’Brien drew the pole position and he used that spot to grab the early lead. T.J. Adams and Zach Friske challenged him early before the first yellow flew for a spinning car and Lucas Peterson had worked his way into second.
Peterson wasted little time after that, taking over the top spot from O’Brien just two laps later. Wahlstrom, meanwhile, had started way back in eighth position but had cracked the top five by the first yellow and continued advancing toward the front, using the high line around the track.
Jason McFadden lost a top five run when he spun with nine laps complete and then the restart was bungled with several cars stacking up but all able to continue.
Wahlstrom restarted on the outside of O’Brien in row two behind Peterson and on the green he showed what he could do on the cushion as he drove past both drivers and claimed the top spot just at the halfway point of the race.
The final eleven laps ran off nonstop and Wahlstrom was on a roll as he pulled away for the win, being unchallenged for the top spot. The battle for second was excellent however, as O’Brien and Peterson exchanged the spot several times with O’Brien edging out Peterson for the position with a last corner pass. Clayton Hofteig and Mitch Fenske completed the top five.
Wahlstrom reported in victory lane that he had been racing on and off at the speedway since 2007 as a part of a big family racing team but that Saturday night was the first time that he had ever won a feature win at the track despite being close several times since he moved into the Late Model class. Saturday also marked the completion of a very successful weekend for Wahlstrom as he also won Friday night at the Red Cedar Speedway.
Jesse Redetzke has been an infrequent competitor at the speedway in recent years but when he does roll into the pits, he generally runs right amongst the leaders. Such was the case again as Saturday night marked his first run at the track in 2026 and he headed back to Eau Claire claiming a feature win.
The Super Stock feature was a two driver battle with Alex Myers starting on the pole and leading the first five laps with Redetzke moving into second after passing Doug Koski for the spot. A yellow for a spinning driver slowed the action with five laps done and on the green, Myers selected the outside line while Redetzke was happy to take the inside lane which he then used to pass Myers for the lead.
And once in front, it was no contest as Jesse continued to pull away from the field and expand his lead until at the finish, he was nearly a full straightaway in front.
Jeff Eisner Jr continued his strong 2026 runs at the track, driving past Myers in the very late going to claim the second spot while the Olsons, Eric and Ryan, completed the top five finishers. Redetzke became the seventh different winner so far this year in the Super Stock class, which remains the most competitive offered at the track.
Adams had a relatively easy time of it in the Midwest Modified feature as he won his fifth of the season here in that division. The first few laps was a struggle though, with Cody Cimfl providing the challenge while the field tried to get laps completed. First Mark Thomas lost a driveshaft on the opening lap and then Jason Vokovan lost a rear bumper on the second attempt. Both were eliminated from the race which finally saw Adams edge ahead of Cimfl to take the lead.
As Adams then gradually began to pull away, a good battle for second saw Cimfl, Cody Borgeson and Brady Larson battle for the runner up honors. The final yellow set up a seven lap sprint to the finish and while Adams again pulled away, Cimfl got past Borgeson one last time and made his strongest push for the lead.
Adams completed his run for the win but Cimfl had close to within a car length as the checkered flag waved. Borgeson got the third spot with Dave Baxter making a late run that saw him move up to fourth ahead of Mike Schnider.
The Street Stock feature got off to a rocky start when pole sitter Connor Franson spun on the first go round. He was restored to that position for the restart and this time it was Hunter VanGilder who grabbed the initial lead. VanGilder looked to be in great position to win back to back mains, leading for the first six laps over Franson and Cole Richards until he suddenly rolled to a halt with mechanical issues which ended his night prematurely.
This gave Richards the lead with Franson and Cody Cimfl battling for second. Cimfl was a spinner but got his spot back, being restored to second and then the final half of the race went nonstop.
Some of the night’s most intense racing then took place as Cimfl got to the inside of Richards and they raced door to door around the track for several laps, inches apart. Somehow Richards was able to hold off the charge of Cimfl and clear himself as the leader, then pulling out to a slight advantage which he carried to the finish line. Cimfl finished a very close second with Caiden Engel completing a fine run in third. Layla Chaplin and Bryar Zimmerman completed the top five. For Richards, it marked his second win of the season at the track.
Simon Wahlstrom, brother to Late Model winner Josh, won for the fifth time of the year at the track, tying him with Adams for most feature wins to this point of the season. However, this win might have been his toughest as he raced door to door with George Richards for the whole first half of the race, never being more than inches apart.
Amazingly, they were able to race that close and hard without incident with Wahlstrom eventually being able to edge away from Richards to claim the lead. George was able to stay within a car length or so of the leader, but Simon wasn’t about to make a mistake and give up the top spot and he drove on for the win with Richards a close second. C.J Wagner finished third with Austin Fencl and Bob Wahlstrom also in the top five.
Next up at the speedway is one of the biggest nights of the racing season. Thursday night, July 2nd will be the annual Firecracker special at the track highlighted by one of the finest fireworks displays to be found anywhere. The K-Runk Midwest Modified special, presented by the Runkle family in memory of Kyle, will also be a part of the program with the MidMods racing for $2323 to win their main event. A full program of Modifieds, Super Stocks, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks will also be a part of the action. On top of that, it will also be the annual “Relay at the Races” night for the American Cancer Society with lots of activities a part of that celebration .A rain date of Friday night, July 3rd has been established for this event with the hopes that it will not have to be used.
Regular admission pricing will be in effect with spectator gates opening at 5 pm and racing to begin one hour later. Spectators are encouraged to arrive at the track early to secure their favorite seats.
