(Milwaukee, WI) — Losers of five games in a row, the news just gets worse for the Brewers. The team says the hamstring injury he suffered Sunday could keep veteran Christian Yelich out of the lineup for a month. Yelich is hitting .314. Milwaukee was already playing without Jackson Chourio, Andrew Vaughn, Quinn Priester, and Jared Koenig. The losing streak is the longest in nearly two years. The Brewers hope to end it when they welcome Toronto to the ballpark tonight (Tuesday).

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Victor Caratini and Ryan Jeffers each homered and drove in three runs and the Minnesota Twins knocked out Boston’s Garrett Crochet in the second inning en route to a 13-6 victory. Jeffers had three of the Twins’ 11 hits, while Ryan Kreidler and Byron Buxton also homered for the Twins, who have won seven of their last eight games. Bailey Ober (2-0) allowed four runs on seven hits while striking out seven in six innings. Jarren Duran homered and Caleb Durbin had two hits and scored two runs for Boston. The Twins ambushed Crochet with four runs in the first inning, then knocked out Boston’s ace lefty with a seven-run second inning. Crochet (2-2) allowed 11 runs — 10 earned — on nine hits and three walks in 1 2/3 innings, the shortest start of his career.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Theo Lindstein scored and the St. Louis Blues overcame a two-goal deficit and beat the Minnesota Wild 6-3 on Monday night. Lindstein scored on a backhand shot with 3:19 remaining in the second period to put the Blues up 4-3. Jonathan Drouin and Dalibor Dvorsky each had an assist on the goal. Pavel Buchnevich scored the 200th goal of his NHL career and Jimmy Snuggerud, Jake Neighbours, Otto Stenberg and Colton Parayko added goals for the Blues. Nick Foligno, Michael McCarron and Danila Yurov scored for the Wild.

(Madison, WI) — Junior forward Austin Rapp says he will return to the Badgers next season. The 22-year-old from Australia joins Nolan Winter to give Wisconsin a strong frontcourt. With nine players on the roster, coach Greg Gard has to fill six openings. He and program recruiters are probably looking for guards. There’s also the potential for young players like Hayden Jones and Zach Kinziger to develop into solid starters.

(Madison, WI) — The University of Wisconsin is opening a nationwide search for an athletic director to replace Chris McIntosh. Sports Illustrated reports three good candidates for the important job are NIU athletic director Sean Frazier, Illinois athletic director Josh Whitman, and Wisconsin’s current interim AD Marcus Sedberry. Frazier has strong Wisconsin ties and is the former Chief of Staff for Barry Alvarez. It might be difficult to get Whiteman to leave his alma mater in Champaign. Sedberry is already in place and has a lot of support in Madison.

NEW YORK (AP) — Azzi Fudd is on her way to Dallas as the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft with a $500,000 payday waiting for the former UConn star. Fudd will pair again with former Huskies teammate Paige Bueckers, who was the Wings’ No. 1 pick last year. The new collective bargaining agreement that was ratified last month gave huge pay raises to rookies. Fudd will make nearly seven-times what Bueckers earned last season as the top choice. UCLA had quite a night with five players drafted in the first round breaking the record held by the 2002 UConn team and six overall.

(Milwaukee, WI) — It doesn’t mean he won’t be back, but Giannis Antetokounmpo tells reporters the Bucks disrespected him. The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player says he feels he could have played in the closing days of the just-completed season. He tells reporters it’s not up to him if he’s back in Milwaukee next season. He says he doesn’t understand why he wasn’t allowed to join his teammates at practices after doctors had cleared him. It will be a busy offseason for the Bucks.
