(Milwaukee, WI) — It was a disappointing result for the first game back for Giannis Antetokounmpo Monday night. The two-time MVP and his Bucks were buried by the Boston Celtics 108-81. That’s three straight losses by at least 23 points for Milwaukee. Antetokounmpo played 25 minutes, scoring 19 points to go with 11 rebounds. He had missed 15 games. The Bucks cut the deficit to nine points shortly after halftime, but Boston answered with 15 straight points of their own. Milwaukee stays at home to play Atlanta Wednesday night.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed 12-year veteran forward Kyle Anderson to bring back a popular role player after he was waived by the Memphis Grizzlies. Anderson played two seasons for the Timberwolves and contributed to their run to the Western Conference finals in 2024. He then signed with the Golden State Warriors in free agency and has been traded three times since. Anderson started 56 games over two years with the Timberwolves. He averaged 25.3 minutes for the highest mark of his tenure with any of the six teams he’s been with in his career.

(Phoenix, AZ) — Nine Brewers left spring training camp Sunday to join their teams for the World Baseball Classic. They will be away for at least a week and a half, providing an opportunity for some younger players still fighting for a roster spot. Tyler Black, Jackson Chourio, William Contreras, Joey Ortiz, Carlos Rodriguez, Brice Turang, Abner Uribe, Rob Zastryzny, and Angel Zerpa are playing in the WBC. That means rookies like Jett Williams and Jeferson Quero will get more at-bats and innings in the field. WBC games start at the end of this week.

PHOENIX (AP) — San Francisco Giants ace Logan Webb will start on the mound for Team USA in its first World Baseball Classic game Friday night against Brazil, manager Mark DeRosa said Monday. DeRosa added that two-time defending AL Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal is expected to start Saturday against Britain, followed by NL Cy Young winner Paul Skenes versus Mexico on Monday. New York Mets right-hander Nolan McLean is tentatively scheduled to start Tuesday in the final pool-play game against Italy, though he’s dealing with an illness and wasn’t with the U.S. team for Monday’s practice.

(Green Bay, WI) — Media reports indicate former Packers special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia may be headed back to college. Woelfel’s Press Box-dot-com reports Bissacia could take a position at Clemson under his friend, head coach Dabo Swinney. Sports Illustrated reports that it will be a new situation for Bisaccia because he’s been coaching in the NFL for the last 23 years. He was at Ole Miss during the 2001 season, but the college football landscape has changed dramatically since then.

(Madison, WI) — The jump is a big one from Division Three to D-1 college football. The Badgers have some high hopes that edge rusher Liam Danitz can make the move. He comes from Hope College, where he had 15 sacks and 21 tackles for loss. He ran track there, so he has elite speed. Badgers-dot-com reports he has already put on 10 pounds. Banitz is 6-foot-5, and he weighed 227 when he arrived in Madison.
