MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (WRN) — A new study led by the University of Minnesota investigated claims of a connection between fluoride in drinking water and lowered IQ in children.
Professor Rob Warren says they looked at data from 10 thousand high school seniors in Wisconsin from 1957 through this year.
“And what we found was there’s just no difference. Whether you never got exposed to fluoride or whether you did through municipal drinking water systems, or whether you happen to live in a place that just naturally has enough fluoride, it made no difference for IQ,” Warren said.
Warren says previous studies looked at the effects of exposure to massive doses of fluoride, not the low amount in drinking water. Warren says some cities have removed fluoride from their drinking water based on those flawed studies.
