ST. CROIX FALLS, Wis. (WJMC) — A Minnesota couple has been arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop on Highway 8.

St. Croix Falls Police Chief Jeff Wolfe said an officer stopped a driver traveling west on Highway 8, just before 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, on suspicion of driving while impaired. During the stop, a K9 allegedly alerted to drugs and methamphetamine, cocaine, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia were found.

The driver was staying at a motel nearby and officers were let into the room by an occupant. Police allegedly located more illegal narcotics and paraphernalia. A total of just over 22 grams of meth and 17 grams of cocaine were found, with a variety of prescription pills and paraphernalia.

The couple, 47-year-old Angela Firkus, of St. Cloud, Minnesota, and 46-year-old Nicholas Heim, of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, were booked in the Polk County Jail, with formal charges pending from the district attorney’s office.
